I found a book in some of my grandparents things and I am not sure if it is important or not. The book is titled “The Graphic History of the Fair…. Worlds Columbian Exposition Chicago, 1893″. The cover is a bit worn, but the copy right is 1894. Pages 1-78 are missing. I have searched online to find someone who might be able to tell me if this book is important and if there is an organization that might like it. I hate throwing books away, especially ones that are this old. I am not trying to make a profit here, I just would like to make sure this book gets to someone who would appreciate it as I appreciate old books. Thank you
Trenda,
Thank you for stopping by. It sounds like you have a wonderful book – or at least part of a book. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea of its value. It just isn’t something I do. To be honest, every book is priceless to me. You might do a little checking on eBay. Seriously, you can find out a lot about items there. Wish I could be more help. (Sorry for the delay in responding; I’ve been ill.)
This is a wonderful site. I hope that you mgith be able to help or at least point me in the right direction.
I’m researching a detective named C. C> Perrin, who lived in Chicago in the 1890’s. Besides working as a detective at the Chicago World’s Fair, Perrin
tracked down an embezzler named Larrabee. This man had absconded with $18,000 from a firm named Boyd, Stickney & Company. It happened in 1896
but I can’t find much on this.
Any help you can give me would be great.
Cordially,
Pete Kaufman
Hi Petre,
Thanks for stopping by. I wish I had time to help you, but I honestly don’t. What I will suggest is that you do a search in Google Books. I have found a lot of information by doing a search there. It will go through all their books and give you a list where the person(s) are mentioned. This might just help! Good luck!
